The Death Of Bunny Munro

02 June 2010

‘‘Hello, I am Bunny Munro. I represent the Eternity Enterprise. I sell products of beauty. I ask one minute from your time’’.

Is not Bags Bunny, but women’ s favourite Bunny, the Big playboy, from the new book of Nick Cave.

Ten years after his first novel ‘‘And the Ass Saw the Angel’’, Nick Cave publishes in 2009 the book  ‘‘The death of Bunny Munro’’ which was favourably reviewed and was translated simultaneously in more than thirty languages.

The world of Bunny is composed from Amazons sex goddesses, doubles of Avril Lavigne, Kylie Minogue with her hot gold shorts, solitary women. Goner himself after the suicide of his wife, together with his son, who learns life through an encyclopaedia, pays the price of his own life. However, despite his deformed from drinking face, he has a magnetic attraction. The night belongs to him… He is a salesman; he sells from door to door dreams and misery with his mind full of weird illusions. Visits of ghosts from his own sadness haunt him and lead him to madness.

The book is written with bitter humour, while the stars are sex and alcohol. Nick Cave links the judge with the victim and the failure with loneliness, implying that the streets of love are nightly, while the streets of mind dark.
