Until today he remains the ultimate boogie-woogie pianist and interpreter, who manages to convey to the audience enthusiasm and endless energy. Surely it is no coincidence that the man who convinced Mitch Woods to be devoted to the piano and the blues scene was Archie Shepp!
Shepp appreciated the passion of that white boy for the blues, became his mentor and over time - as Woods says – “a valuable friend who still mocks me when I'm not good enough. At times he annoys me so much that my only option is to try to be better.”
