Greek musician (vocals, guitar, bouzouki, sitar), composer and conductor lives permanently in New York. One of the most important representatives of world fusion, combines sounds from around the world and is influenced by different musical cultures of the planet and her Greek roots.
Nana Simopoulos has written music for theater, cinema, dance and ballet performances. She has collaborated with jazz musicians such as Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, Billy Higgins, Ustad Sultan Kahn, Dave Liebman, Nana Vasconcelos and renowned music ensembles such as the New York Opera Orchestra.
She has eight personal albums and countless appearances at festivals, museums, theaters and also in St. John's Cathedral in New York, where she directed forty musicians from Tibet, India, Turkey, Africa, Israel and Greece at a memorial ceremony for the victims of the 9/11 attack.
